The predictions for this chapter were not very accurate other than the larger change that will happen. This chapter now takes place at the boys dormitory and Boq the ‘main’ character. He is being called out with the other boys to go to a pub, but Boq decides to stay in and study. Little do the other boys know, but Boq is going to be informing Galinda of his love for her. After they leave, Boq sneaks across the street to climb a tree and surprise Galinda. Little does he know, but Elphaba sees him and scares him out of the tree. A great quote that is the opposite of a personification is; “You can certainly describe your favourite tree to me, and I’ll tell you if I know where she grows.” (Maguire 98) This line is the opposite of a personification because it is giving an animate object a inanimate characteristics. Boq is scared out of tree by Elphaba, who helps him conceive a plan for him to tell Galinda he loves her. The set a date - three nights away.
