Finally the end of Galinda!

The final part to the Chapter of Galinda has commenced! It is a short chapter, taking up only a page and a quarter. But much is revealed. It is now second semester in the Land of Oz, and earlier prediction, on a life altering event has come true. The futures of the girls lives have been chosen. Galinda has chosen sorcery. This could be due to the fact that there is a potential that she may have the chance to change rooms. Elphaba has also chosen her route of study; natural sciences. Although she is not present in the chapter, Galinda discusses this with M. Morrible. It is also revealed that Elphaba has a sister! Now this is not new information, but the reader now knows that the baby was born, it is a girl, and now she is older. This also leads to the question of her skin colour. It also could be due to the fact that Turtle Heart could be the father. The final line of this chapter alludes to the relationship between Elphaba and Galinda. “But she couldn’t think of how to do it. She didn’t have the nerve.” (Maguire 92) it is interesting how Galinda could be so mean to Elphaba, by trying to ignore her and call her names h=behind her back, yet when she is interested in her personal life, she has much respect for her.
